1.
a round 01:02
I used to draw for hours faces, flowers I'd hold still for hours
2.
take in the light put it away way, way, way down we are green green green electromagnetic machines heights to aspire a slow vertigo all things expire all things grow we are green green green electromagnetic machines day turns to night we turn away way, way, way down down down we are green green green electromagnetic machines
3.
I'm not now as you knew me falling to my knees softly in the roses and pine counting out the split ends the years from you to me a hair's length measures time faded ends bleached and bent I incline I decline from forest to city here I am slower crawling with the sun a promise I await eyes along bare ankles for berries to ripen bluer every day salted tongue breath full of ash I incline I decline from forest to city searching for stillness but everything is changing growing, aging
4.
in the shadow of the shard unyielding, on guard lips trembling you said, "hold this thing, "keep it steady, are you ready?" I could feel the pulse in my fingertips I used to draw for hours, faces, flowers now I've learned to write the stories of past lives the power of a simple, triumphant narrative I used to draw for hours, faces, flowers I'd hold still for hours the shadows descend I think this is the end why'd you wanna know the distance to the sun? how to keep the time? how the clocks run? the meaning in the growth of roots?
